Our Approach

We prioritise community mobilisation, training and job placements for people with disabilities through our Livelihood program.

Community Mobilisation:

We identify working-age people with disabilities (PWDs) in rural and urban areas through public records, community programs, career guidance workshops, and collaboration with other developmental organisations, educational institutions and government agencies.

Career Guidance Placement:

Our Career Guidance Placement (CGP) cell caters to all the training units under the Livelihood programme. It works with over 120 prospective employers across Karnataka to nurture and expand employment opportunities for PWDs. Placements are promoted through community job fairs, employer orientation, industrial orientation, field visits and pre-employment training.

Non-Formal Courses:

We also offer a 6-months non-formal fitter, electronic and mechanic training for candidates who don't qualify for the formal training.

Training & Placement:

Once identified, they are led through academic or vocational training courses within APD or at other mainstream institutions sensitised to their requirements. Along with these courses, the PWDs get specific training based on opportunities sourced by the placement team.

Foundation Courses:

Our foundation course is a unique job-readiness course which offers training in self-management, everyday life, writing, English language, basic maths, sign language, and other topics for PWDs lacking in these fundamental life skills.

Horticulture Training

We create potential horticultural career prospects for PWDs in nurseries, landscaping, floriculture, tissue culture, and more. In addition, we also provide:

Garden Specialist Training:

A 4-month course on plants and seeds, watering, potting, composting, and other specialised skills.

Garden Supervisor Training:

A 4-month course on money management, customer interaction, computers, gardening, and organic products.

Sustainable Agriculture Livelihood Training:

A specialised course on sustainable agriculture methods that also promote family and community growth.

Reach out to our horticulture training centres in Bangalore at Jeevan Bhima Nagar and Kyalasanahalli to build your horticultural skills and find employment opportunities.

Employer-Led Training (ELT)

Our team identifies candidates through a recruitment unit and provides job-appropriate training to place them in the public or private sector. The program is developed along with training partners and is specifically tailored to the requirements of chosen companies.

In order to foster inclusive workplaces, the training period includes capacity development for potential employers to use a rights-based approach to recruiting, induction, and mentorship.

BPO ELT:

8-weeks of on-the-job training (OJT) and practical sessions to enhance the candidates’ communication, computer, customer service, and life skills.

Hospitality ELT:

8-weeks of training for the hospitality industry, conducted in collaboration with training centres or academic institutions such as the Presidency College of Hotel Management and YUM Academy.

Retail ELT:

8-weeks of training to equip trainees on communication, customer interaction, labelling and selling.
